Petsworth Baptist Church is seeking a full-time Pastor of Student Ministries that will lead a vibrant Middle and High School Ministry and provide pastoral oversight for the Children’s and Collegiate Ministry Teams.

Job Description

The statements below are intended to describe the general nature of this job and the level of work performed by employees in this position.

The Pastor of Student Ministries will plan and implement a youth (grades 7-12) ministry while
providing general oversight over the children’s ministry (birth- 6th grade) and college/young
adult ministry.

The Pastor of Student Ministries reports directly to the Senior Pastor.

Be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ

Ascribe to The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 (Southern Baptist Convention)

Support and be in agreement with the vision and leadership of the Senior Pastor.

Support and be in agreement with Petsworth’s Statement on Marriage, Gender and Sexuality.

Preferred married.

A minimum degree in vocational ministry; or pursuing or have acquired graduate degree in
vocational ministry.

Has experience leading and facilitating various youth programs

Be able to be ordained as prescribed by the standards of 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

Be able to teach the Bible with clarity and compassion resulting in transformation.

Be a disciple-maker.

Keep current with effective ministry within the community.

Possess strong communication skills.

Possess computer competencies and social media skills.

Possess leadership and organizational skills.

Provide direction, cast vision, develop ministries, train volunteer leaders and implement
youth services.

Plan, develop, organize, facilitate, oversee, and/or lead intentional youth activities to
include: Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday night services.

Develop, train, teach and chair a youth ministry leadership team.

Work within the parameters of the church’s vision

Develop a calendar of events that aligns with the vision of the church

Teach the word of God with boldness, clarity, and effectiveness within the youth ministry.

Lead students and volunteer youth workers to be evangelistic and missional in their
lifestyle.

Provide counsel to students.

Establish and implement a procedure for contacting students who are absent.

Ensure adequate supervision in provided for all youth activities.

Keep congregation informed of the overall youth program and coming special events.

Provide help to students with continuity of strategy and smooth transition from middle school to high school and from high school to college and career ministries.

Engage in community middle, high school, and sister church ministry organizational events
and plans.

Oversee college and young adult ministries.

Create, with the help of a college ministry team, a calendar that fits the ministry goals as
well as the church’s vision.

Provide counsel to students.

Provide updates on college ministry to church body.

Oversee Children’s Ministry.

Unify the multiple ministries within the Children’s Ministry umbrella under a single set of
goals.

Preach according to a schedule or occasion set by the pastor.

Attend regular church services and Member’s Meetings.

Meet with the senior pastor on a regular basis to discuss ministry objectives, strategies, and
for prayer.

Be accessible at regular times to the church staff and members of the church.

Prepare and submit an annual budget to the Finance Ministry Team for all ministries within
ministerial responsibilities.

Effectively communicate to the congregation on behalf of all student ministries mentioned above.

This is a full-time position.

The work schedule will be set by the Senior Pastor.

Benefits, paid vacation and holiday pay are included in this position.

The incumbent will be required to sign and give church permission to perform a criminal
background check. Any job offer is contingent upon the results of such check.

All social media accounts are subject to review prior to and during employment.

Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality in all areas of ministry.

The incumbent will maintain the standards of 1 Timothy 3:1-7 after he is hired.

The Pastor of Student Ministries works under the direction of, and is accountable to, the Senior Pastor and will be evaluated annually.

Total compensation package ranges from $54k to $64k commensurate with experience.
