Meet Our Pastors

John Pouchot

Senior Pastor

After serving at Petsworth from  2002 to 2003 as an associate pastor, Pastor John returned to Petsworth in 2016 as senior pastor.  From 2003 to 2015 he served as the lead pastor for Poquoson Baptist Church.

John and his high school sweetheart, Tracy, have 3 children – John Montgomery, Molly Grace, and Lily Young that are separated by 22 years (because God’s timing is not our timing!)  Outside of his salvation in Christ – John views his greatest gift as his family and treasures the time he is with them.  He is thankful for the heritage and legacy of faith given to him by his own parents.

John is an avid cross-country and track and field fan having competed on the prep and collegiate levels.  In 2009 he was inducted into the Gloucester High  School Sports Hall of Fame and has coached at times even while engaged in ministry.

Loving the local church – seeing individuals embrace the truth of Scripture in obedience – and sharing the good news through preaching, teaching and personal witness are John’s ministry passions.

John is a graduate of Gloucester High School (Go Dukes!), the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!), and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (no mascot).

Brandon Palmer

Student Pastor

Brandon has been serving as the Student Pastor at Petsworth since 2022. He is passionate about expositing the Word of God through preaching and equipping the saints for the work of the ministry. Brandon desires to shepherd, encourage, and love the people God has graciously placed around him. His heart for students is for them to make Christ name known, wherever God has divinely placed them, through coming to know Christ as their Lord and Savior, daily growing in their relationship with Him, and going out and sharing their faith with others.

Brandon and his wife, Rebecca, met during their time at Liberty University. They have been together since 2018, engaged in 2019 and married in 2020. They have a basset hound named Hercules and have been recently blessed with a son named Boaz James.

In his free time, Brandon enjoys spending quality time with his wife, and others, reading a good book, enjoying a good cup of coffee, and cheering for his Liberty Flames.

Brandon is a graduate of Liberty University, with his Bachelor’s in Pastoral Leadership, and Minor in Youth Ministry. He is currently pursuing his Master’s of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry and Expository Preaching from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
