What to Expect When You Visit
We want to extend to you a warm welcome as you consider visiting Petsworth Baptist Church. At Petsworth, we want to serve you on your journey of faith wherever you are along the way! We invite you to join us in one of our Sunday worship services and to attend one of our Sunday morning Bible study groups.
What is it like to worship at Petsworth?
The best way to find out is to come and see. The style of music is blended, upbeat, and passionate and reflects the diversity of the congregation. The sermons are in-depth relevant messages from the Bible, calling us to a deeper relationship with God and often touch on practical life issues. Our focus is to allow God to transform our beliefs, values, and our behaviors.
A typical Sunday morning service starts with a song led by our Music Director followed by a moment to greet people and to welcome new guests. Our music style blends the best of inspiring hymns with a mixture of modern worship songs. We focus on prayer lifting up the needs of others and we worship through the giving of our resources to God in weekly offerings. Each service is concluded with a challenge to live out the message preached and to make a difference in the lives of those around us.
What should I wear?
At Petsworth Baptist Church, we focus on the heart more than on the outward appearance. Those in attendance attempt to dress in a way that does not draw attention to themselves, because we want the focus to be on Jesus Christ alone.
When you come to one of our Sunday services, you will find people dressed in a wide variety of styles from as casual as jeans or to those dressed more formally. Most people find themselves somewhere in the middle, just be sure to dress so that you will be relaxed and able to get the greatest possible impact from our service.
What is available for my children?
Childcare for preschool age children (babies of 6 weeks through 5 years) is provided on Sunday mornings. This enables parents to attend both a worship service and a Bible study class on Sunday.
For elementary age children (first through fifth grade) a Sunday School class time is provided for them during the 9:45 AM Sunday School hour. A children’s church is provided during the 11:00 AM Worship Service. We offer a safe environment and secure facility.
Sunday Night
The Sunday evening schedule during the fall, winter and spring includes AWANA for ages 2 years through 6th grade. Growth groups for grades 7-12 consist of praise songs by a youth praise band followed by small group studies. These groups also enjoy fellowships and mission projects. Adult small group classes are also provided on relevant topics from marriage, finances, spiritual growth, and much more. Nursery is provided.
Wednesday Night
The Wednesday evening schedule includes nursery and children’s classes. Children’s choirs inspire kids to sing and to minister to others through music and drama. Youth in grades 7-12 grade attend Crossover. This weekly gathering gives students a place to bring their friends. Students enjoy pizza and drinks, pay games and are lead in worship by the youth praise band. Bibles-based teaching presents opportunities to respond to the teachings of Scripture. A class for adults is held in the worship center and activity building. This class focuses on teaching practical lessons on prayer, Christian practices, and living a Biblical worldview.
Parking
Special parking for guests is available directly in front of the church building. Parking is available on both sides of Hickory Fork Rd.
