As we all grow in Christ, it is best for all believers to be involved with the fellowship of other believers. Joining a church body is the best thing that any believer can do, so that they can personally grow to the potential that God would have them obtain. It is with the Church fellowship that believers will be discipled through the various lessons throughout Scripture. The church will provide a body of accountability that all Christians so dearly need as we struggle with the trials of life. We all have needs of our own and the best way to handle these needs is to place them in the hands of our sovereign God. In the church family, the Christian should have strong support from the other members who will voice their prayers on behalf of those who have needs on a regular basis. Not only do we personally grow in Christian maturity through the church body, but we also will find friendships that will last a lifetime. There are many other positive effects that come from being a member of a local congregation.

We at Petsworth are not telling you that you need to be a member of this particular body of believers. Only God can tell you where He wants you to be. There is a church family that God has set aside for every believer to find. If you believe in Christ as your savior, then you need to be a member of some church, or you will never grow to your full Christian potential. If God is moving you to join our church here at Petsworth, we gladly extend our hand to you and welcome you to be a part of our church body.

Joining Petsworth Baptist Church is simple. If you are already a member of another church, are transferring your letter of membership and have already gone though believer’s baptism, then you only need to request a transfer of letter by coming at the invitation time of the service. We ask that you attend a new member class when it is offered. If you are coming to join on profession of faith, then you need to make that faith public at the invitation time of the service. This allows others to know of your public commitment to be a follower of Jesus Christ and of your desire to partake in believers baptism. Information on baptism can be requested from the church office.
